On August 12th, I attended the 5k run in downtown kansas city for susan g. komen's race for the cure. ohmygoodness, last year, it was much easier. It was either or both because I was more prepared (because i ran everyday) last year or because it was much, much hotter this year! ... I have a couple more 5k runs I will be attending in September, which i am hoping it will be better... at least, it'll be much cooler!
Also, I have decided to close the store for a little bit to make sure that i have enough bags to sell at Old Settler's. But of course, I'll still take custom orders. Old settler's is in 2 weeks! I can't wait!!!!

black bottom!
Couple of weeks ago, a co-worker had suggested that I should try to make "black bottom cupcakes" ... i gave him a confused look, probably because I had never heard of it! He looked it up for me online... and they seem to be pretty popular.
So, I said I'll give it a try, and he has to bring the milk (since many people who commented on the receipe said that it is good with milk because of it's creamy richness.
It was delicious! So chocolatey and rich.... you should definitely give it a try! I used the receipe on allreceipe.com. -- it didn't come out to be 24 for me. Next time, I'm going to make double chocolate batch.

cupcakes
Another one of my favorite things to do are to make cupcakes... i usually just make it from those ones in the box... but i decided to make some from scratch.
I made red velvet cupcakes for a get together that we had on Saturday. These were the only four left... It was my first time making them from scratch. they disappeared so fast! I had to make sure that we were able to eat some! I aslo made the icing, which was had enough to make another batch of cupcakes... the next day... ... ...
On Sunday, I made carrot cupcakes... I didn't want to go out to get more carrots, so I grated the baby carrots... I'm never doing that again! i think in only got like 3 grates, and then poof, the carrot was gone! The icing didn't turn out as defined when i put them on the cupcakes... they just looked like they were drooping on top. I waited till they cooled. I'm not sure if it made a difference if they were used the next day. Either way, they turned out really, really good. I took majority of them to work today, they disappeared there too!
